It began with an AOL Instant Messenger conversation in the summer of 2004. It was an idea born in part out of boredom. The rest just stemmed from childhoods warped by the likes of Steven Seagal, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris.
The inspiration was simple: the once great action movie genre had gone soft. People needed reminding of what action movies were all about. Simple plots. Horrible acting. Cheesy one-liners. And most of all, some serious foot to hindquarters.
So began the Last Action Heroes.
The ideals so dear to LAH came to life and spread like a really badass rash in the pages of a Madison student newspaper. Classics were reviewed and celebrated. New releases were put under scrutiny. The tough questions were asked. No one was safe, not even Sylvester Stallone or Arnold Schwarzenegger. It led to the formation of a fraternity of sorts — dudes who like seeing dudes beat the naughty out of some other dudes.
Now some may have feared that Last Action Heroes had gone the way of Dolph Lundgren’s career when it faded from the printed world back early in the year 2007. And though, yes, we did go quiet for a bit there, our vigilance over the action genre never wavered. But Last Action Heroes is back — and dare we say, with a vengeance? Our posse just got a whole lot larger, and no action moving can slip by unnoticed when LAH is rollin’ six deep.
Set your bookmarks and tell your friends because LAH is on the Internets, hanging out and getting all up in your face with action reviews, discussions and various other ramblings.
So strap on your jock strap because like Steven Seagal, LAH has no problem hitting below the belt.
Lights, camera, ACTION.
